We believe, an integrative approach to surfing is key to improve your surf performance and make you surf delighted. The Parallel Surf Method this includes an amplified physical conditioning program and countless movement repetition in controlled environments like surf skating and pool trainings. It's all about acquiring the necessary skills which will make you perfom better when inside the ocean.
Elite Coaching
All our instructors are US-certified lifeguards, comply with the standard of the International Surfing Association (ISA), coach in various languages and ensure your safety throughout the lesson. Program director Emanuel Knudsen works closely with Olympic Surfer Manuel Selman (Tokyo 2022) and Magnum Martinez (Coach Puerto Rican Surf League).

Exceptional Facilities
Nestled into a permaculture garden you will find our training facilities including the only palm-roofed wooden surf skate bowl in Central America. At our lobby guests are welcomed, and our equipment is displayed. Every private coaching starts off and ends here with some after-surf goodies. Serve yourself with fresh coffee, mineralized water, dive into our refreshing saltwater pool or unwind at our Beach Club.

El Encuentro Surf Lodge is a charming boutique hotel right next to Parallel Surf and offers well equipped rooms of different sizes, a restaurant, a saltwater pool, and a childcare center next door. The friendly reception team will help with airport transfers, rental cars and excursions.

How can I pay for the services?
You can pay in cash, with credit card or bank transfer in USD or DOP.
What safety measures are in place during surf lessons?
Safety is our top priority. All our instructors are US certified lifeguards and first responder and comply with the standard of the International Surfing Association (ISA). We provide thorough safety briefings to our students, teach proper techniques for handling open water situations, and closely supervise from the beach all participants in the water.
Do I need prior experience to join your surf school?
No, no prior experience is required. Our surf school welcomes both beginners and experienced surfers. We cater to all skill levels and provide personalized instruction accordingly. Our coaches always evaluate personal level and expectations beforehand a lesson and customize their coaching concept to you.
Can I bring my own surfboard for the lessons?
Absolutely! If you have your own surfboard and prefer to use it during the lesson, you are welcome to bring it. Our instructors can also provide guidance on choosing the right board for your skill level.
Is there an age limit for participating in surf lessons?
We welcome participants with a minimum age of 8 years. Our instructors are experienced in working with both children and adults, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. However the ability to swim is a requirement.
Are private or group lessons available?
We offer only private lessons. Private lessons provide one-on-one instruction and enable you to get the most out of your booked service. If you would like to enjoy a private lesson with a friend or family member we can arrange two private lessons happening at the same time with two coaches.
What happens if I have to cancel my reservation?
You can cancel or reschedule for free up to 48 hours prior your appointment. Less than 48 hours we try to reschedule your appointment to the most convenient day and time for you. No-Shows are charged 100%.
What happens if the weather conditions are unfavorable?
We closely monitor weather and ocean conditions. In the event of unfavorable conditions, we may reschedule your lesson, offer an alternative activity or refund your payment. Your safety and enjoyment are priority to us.
What happens if I come late to my lesson?
Your coach is scheduled exclusively for your private lesson and has a reserved amount of time for you. If you come late, unfortunately you will lose this time of your lesson. Ideally you arrive 15 min prior your lesson to the surf school lobby. This will give us enough time to check you in and you can have a refreshment before your coaching starts.
